At the beginning of His work salvation, when the religious activities suffered severous ideological restrictions all over the Japan, Meishu-Sama draw images of Kannon and distributed them to the members of the Church as works of art. It was an alternative method of salvation at that time.
During His life, Meishu-Sama painted about 7,000 images. He kept only the great-size images enshrined in the Church’s headquarters and some small others, to personal usage, decorating His rooms. All of others were distributed to the members of the Church. When He stopped painting, He paid for having back some of the images He liked.
Kannon is a God that expands His mercy and salvation to all beings, acting in different ways. Meishu-Sama’s paintings about Kannon let flourished a very greatness, giving us the impression that they were made not only for simple pleausure, but intending to save people through calligraphies and drawnings.
We hope that, by enjoying those images, we can get stronger to the fullfilment of our mission – which is, contruct Paradise on Earth, the ideal world desired by Master Jinsai.
